Sophonisba, oil, 24" x 34"
The poem reads as follows:
Sophonisba
But here in the charmed circle
of despair I too, Euryalus, know
that strangers come from
Zeus. Without Arete for
comfort I now spout id-
fantasies to Krauts and
throw tetradrachmas
to the wind. Soon I shall
eat the peacock that
contains Pythagoras's
soul.
